Green Cloud are the new normal!

What is Green Cloud?

Cloud becomes the most crucial factor for companies now. For safety, and security – the cloud is a whole and sole element. The companies have created their data centre to manage their essential information. But not everyone is aware of the consequences of installing and building such a huge data centre. The high electricity consumption makes serious environmental footprints. These digital footprints are enough to ding the environment. The only way to control the emission is Green Cloud. Some companies have initiated their steps toward the environment-friendly approach like Azure, Google & Amazon. This article will signify complete aspects of the Azure Cloud Infrastructure Services towards Green Cloud.

What do they say?

Microsoft Azure has put their efforts to control the emission that occurs through a data centre. The self-proclaimed goal of the company is to “make the data centre disappear” with the complete elimination of the server rooms. The company had already put efforts into this mainstream from 2012 including RECs. After two years (2014), a company run on 100% renewable energy Without RECs, the company can run their data centre with 60% renewable energy. Moreover, the company is planning to expand it by 70% by 2023.

How do they do it?

Microsoft is focused to control carbon emission and footprints as they have strict policies like internal carbon taxes. Also, the company is making heavy investments in clean energy projects. With some major investments and deals, the company’s renewable energy portfolio increased up to around 1.9 gigawatts. Innovation and Microsoft are two sides of the same coin which include an experiment to put data centres on ocean floors to eliminate or control cooling costs.

Microsoft is exploring using natural gas for power generation in data centres. The use of natural gas helps in energy efficiency improvement and contributes to overall carbon footprint control & management. The Azure Cloud Infrastructure Services by Microsoft are expanding towards the advancement for making “Green Cloud a new normal for businesses”.
